Bit of a mixed bag of a weekend, this one. Naomi ran 18:47 at Crewe parkrun, her quickest since having Iris six months ago, which is a proper result by anyone’s standards. I was on buggy duty, running 23:25 with Iris in front of me, and I’ll admit my legs weren’t fresh — I’d raced Mid Cheshire 5K the night before, so this was about twelve hours of recovery and then straight back out again.
Crewe was well outside our usual Yorkshire patch, so this was a proper trip out as part of the parkrun tour we’re working through. Always nice to see a different course and a different crowd, even if the legs are asking questions by the time you’re pushing a buggy round it on tired legs from the night before.
Naomi talks in the video about what she’s aiming at next, which is worth hearing in her own words rather than me paraphrasing badly. Six months postpartum and running times like that says a lot about where her fitness is heading.
And then, because it wouldn’t be a British parkrun without it, the rain came. Have a watch of the full video to see how it all played out — buggy, rain, tired legs and all.

3:15:47 marathon
A six minute marathon personal best at 57 years old, and in the best shape he has ever been in. Start to finish of that block he went from strength to strength. Most importantly he says he enjoyed the process, which is half the battle.
